AFTER MORNING THOUGHTS
My writing has now found a new beginning on Substack.
A quiet space for reflection, presence, and the unfolding inner life.
Beginning From Where I Am
Susan P. Lax
Some journeys change us because of where we go. Others change us because of who we become while we’re there.
When Ordinary Moments Become Sacred
The three of us sat around a medium-size round table.
Low chairs, woven placemats and folded linen napkins reflected the cheerful simplicity of Greece.
Beyond us a brilliant blue sea roared beneath quiet mountains.
In front of me was a perfectly made expresso martini as a bourbon-based drink was served to my partner in life and love.
My fourteen-year-old granddaughter smiled as a beautifully crafted mocktail arrived in her martini glass.
We shared. She asked.
My words offering her a glimpse into the rooms of my heart before I became a mom and Savta(grandmother).
Her hunger for knowledge about what was became a desire I needed to fill.
Just the three of us. Ordinary moments became sacred.
Why Am I Writing Now?
I havebeen quiet for a while.
My writing took a sabbatical.
Grief, uncertainty, and hatred seemed to spill into every corner of the world.
It wasn’t that I had nothing to say. I simply wanted to write from a place of truth, beyond the darkness that was trying to cover the light I knew was still there.
After many sacred moments with my granddaughter, I knew, I felt it.
My writing was finding its way back beginning here again on Substack.
I’m So Glad You Found Your Way Here
This Substack, After Morning Thoughts, isn’t here to offer answers. Like Morning Inspiration, it’s an invitation to become more aware of each moment.
We’ll discover the moments that awaken the heart, one story, one reflection, one moment at a time.
Whether you’re here for a moment of reflection, a spark of inspiration, or simply the joy of a good story, I’m so grateful you’ve found your way here.
